Abruzzo Wines
This is one of the smallest regions of Italy and there is a clear variation of climate in this region. The areas adjacent to mountains are cool and comparatively damp in nature. The areas near to seacoast are dry and predominantly hot. This region is bordering with the rives Tronto, Marche in the north, the region Molise at the southern side, Adriatic sea is located in the east side and Lazio is located at the western side of this region. The soil of this place is rugged and made of mostly of volcanic soil.A wide variety of grape is produced here. These varieties are inclusive of red and white category both. Among the widely populated red varieties Malbec, Merlot, Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Montepulciano are main and mention worthy.
DOC wines are the specialty of this region and among the all range of production the most famous duo of DOC are Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The first one is white wine produced with the blend of Passerina, Cococciola, and Malvasia kind of grapes. The wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a red wine and it is produced with a blending of Montepulciano grape with Sangiovese grape. The grape of Montepulcianooriginates another good quality of wine and that is Cerasuolo-it is a rose of cherry color. Like southern Italy this region also produces a huge quantity of this wine and it makes a good amount of profit of the manufacturer.
The quality of wine produced by this region is good and world famous. Although the wine making process has been changed due to the advent of technology but the preservation process is still maintained in following the old tradition. Probably that is the secret for the popularity of this wine.
