Well. What are you waiting for? You know your soul won’t rest until you’re in a Tuscany vineyard, surrounded by succulently-ripe grapes that want to shake your hand and say hello!
Tuscany. The name itself suggests a place brimming with all things that are good for the soul – good wine, good food, olive oil to die for, a culture that is strong and old and new at the same time.
So it’s no surprise that you’re thinking of taking a wine tour there. Which Italian wine lover wouldn’t?
Here are some things to bear in mind while you’re planning your journey:
1) Like Sicily, Tuscany has a wide range of wines for you to explore and savour. This is mainly due to the distinct differences in wine-producing in each region. So if you’re in one region, you won’t find two wines that taste the same.
2) Chianti, Montalcino and Montepulciano are one of the more popular wine regions to explore in Tuscany, and by all means do so. Your palate will love you for it.
3) However, do explore the lesser well-known areas. Apart from the ‘Big 3′ wine regions mentioned, there are some regions peppered along the coast that are well worth paying a visit. For example, there’s a wine region called Morellino di Scansano where you’ll find deliciously strong and affordable wines. In exploring these less-popular regions, it’ll feel like you’ve discovered a secret no-one else knows.
4) There is no wine without history. So do consider exploring the historical and architectural side of Tuscany if your budget will allow it. It may add a deeper and richer layer to your wine-touring experience.
Whether you’re a novice or connoisseur, there’s enough of Tuscany to sink your palate into. Enjoy it. Live it. Savour it. Revisit it.
