Emilia Romagna Wines

This region of Italy is situated on the Northeastern part of Italy and it is small but significant state for wine industry. This region is bordering with Lombardia and Veneto, The Adriatic sea in the eastern part, the Tuscany and Marche attached Apennine mountain range to the south, and the Liguria attached Apennines to the west side of the boundary. The average climate of this place is temperate with a variation of cool climate in the hill attached areas and warm climate in the seacoast attached areas. The major portion of soil is rugged and alluvial that is ideal for grape harvesting.

The red grapes of this region are Cagnina and Sangiovese. In the list of white grapes Malvasia, Trebbiano, Pagabit, and Albana are the most popular varieties.

This region is one of the largest wine producing regions of Italy. This region of Emilia Romagna is bifurcated in two parts and the city of Bologna is the capital city in between these two sub regions. The eastern part of the region is named as Romagna and the western part is called Emilia.

The most popular wine from the area of Emilia is Lambrusco and this wine is produced form the grapes named as Lambrusco. This is a good quality sparkling red wine and taste wise it is available in two categories. The first one is of sweet taste and the second variation is of dry taste. In production of white wine the region of Romagna is in the leading position in Italy and From Albana grape the first DOC-DOCG wine of Italy is produced and it is named as Albana di Romagna. Pegabit is another good quality of white wine .There are other good red wines available from this region and these are named as Cagmina and Sangiovese .

In producing wine though an age old process was introduces before, nowadays it is much more improved with the advent of Technology but the process of fermentation is still a secret to reveal.
