Friuli Venezia Giulia Wines

This region of Italy is located in the northeastern part of the country and with a mild and windy wintry season and warm summer seasons. The soil of this place is rugged and alluvial in nature. It is bordering with Austria in the north side, Adriatic sea in the southern side, in the west side the region of Veneto is located and in the eastern part of boundary Slovenia is located as the border. Mostly white grapes are produced here. Among it Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Verduzzo, Chardonnay, and Picolit brands are most favorite for the wine makers. A few red grapes are also produced from here like, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Refosco.

In the Roman era the wine culture started moving in this region and it is even before the French took the wine business rolling before that age it was in this region this wine industry was on and that time grape used to be imported from outside. There is only one DOC-DOCG produced in the region of Fruili-Venezia-Giulia and the name of this brand of wine is Ramandolo. There are nine DOC quality of wines in this region like, Collio, Friuli Annia, Friuli Aquileia, Carso, Goriziano etc. and Friuli Latisana, Friuli Isonzo, Friuli Grave, Colli Orientali del Friuli and Colli Orientali del Friuli maggiore. The first eight wines are originated from the province Udine and the last brand of wine is an amalgamation of eastern part of Veneto and the western part of Venzia Giulia.
