Lazio is famous tourist spot. This region is centered round Rome. Soil of this place is volcanic type and somewhere in this place it is rugged keeping a similarity with the rocky and hilly background. The grapes are produced in this place are of red and white type. In red category only Montepulciano grape is famous and having a good quality. The white grapes include Trebbiano and Malvasia.

This region is mainly famous for white wines like Frascati and Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone. These wines have a typical aroma and it is influenced more by Roman tradition of making and age old concept of aging in a conventional way. These two wines are made of blending of grapes like Malvasia, Trebbiano and other white grapes. Although this region is famous for white wine some red wines are being produced from here and the grape variety of Montepulciano is used as a base of all the red wines from this region.

The white wines of this region are conventionally made sweet tasted and these are perfect as an accompanying wine for food. It is best with cake desserts and roasted meat. Nowadays with the aid of new technologies the tastes of these wines are made better crisp and dry typed .And this is done by introducing new filtration method in the process of wine making. The white wines from this place are world famous and a good amount of foreign revenue is earned out of the export of this wines.

Though white wines are now the specialty of this region but in the past Caecubum and Falernum were the red wines were brought from the southern region to make some red wines. Even today there are a few red wines available in Lazio, which are considered as the star wine in the red wine industry. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are the example of the star red wine from the region of Lazio.
