This is small region located at the central part of Italy. This region has its neighbor on northern side Emilia Romagna,southwestern side with Lazio, and at southern boundary the region of Abruzzo is located. In the west side this region is bordering with Umbria and Tuscany, two most potential regions of Italy in terms of prosperity and population. Due to the proximity of hill to this place, this area climate is predominately hilly that means chilled, dry and never hot through out the season.The soil of this region is made of volcanic extraction hence it is fertile for cultivation. As this place is near to hilly area some of the portion of soil is of rugged type. The vineyards of this place are world famous and this region is famous for 10 DOC wines of export quality. Among the red varieties Ciliegiolo grapes are main produce from here and it is unique in its quality. In the list of white grapes Maceratino or also known as Montecchiese, Vernaccia, Pinot Bianco, Trebbiano, and Malvasia Toscana are mention worthy. This region is the home of world and history famous grape Passerina. It is in Roman history the mention of this wine is mentioned. This gives an idea of the age old wine artistry of this region.
This region is specialized mainly in producing white wines. From Verdicchio grape the wine Verdicchio di Matelica, and Verdicchio die Castelli di Jesi are produced and this wine is available in both white and sparkling varieties. From Montepulciano grape the wine Rosso Conero is originated.This wine also contains around 15% of the blending of the grape of Sangiovese. With this same grape combination another good quality of wine is produced from this place and it is named as Rosso Piceno. It is stylish wine with alight taste and due to its huge demand it is produced in large quantity; hence earn quite a good revenue for the country.
