This region is situated in the central part of Italy, bordering with Abruzzo in the north, Apulia in the southern side, in the western side Lazio is located and Adriatic sea is in the eastern boundary of this region. This region has two major types of climate. One is continental type and the seacoast adjacent area is influenced by the warmth of Mediterranean climates. It has a short rainy season here and it take place between June and October. The major portion of soil of this place is made of Volcanic eruption hence fertility rate is high and due to the nearness to hill it is somehow of rocky typed.Grapes are produced here comprises of both the types -white and red grapes. In the red grape varieties Barbera, Sangiovese, Bombino Rosso, Aglianico, and Montepulciano grapes are of main type. In the white grape variety Falanghina, Fiano, Greco and Bombino Bianco are mention worthy. In comparison to the other wine producing region of Italy this region is producing a small quantity of wine. There are two major DOC wines in this region, and both of the DOC has produce of one red ,one white, and one rose in their list. The cultivators have harvested some new categories and among these Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Nero are worth to mention. All these are in red categories and in the list of whites Pinot Bianco, Riesling Italica, Garganega, Traminer Aromatic are the main items need to be mentioned.
New technology has advanced the wine making procedure of Molise a lot but in making the blending and determining the proportion of different grapes are the main factors for the special taste of wine produced from these wineries. These information are maintained as trade secret and generation after generation this formulae are maintained by the wine makers.
