This region is an island like surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, except the eastern side that is bordered by the Adriatic sea. One DOC-DOCG is generated from the region of Sardinia, and the name of this wine is Vermentino di Gallura which is produced from mainly the grape of Vermentino and a blending of the other endorsed grapes of this region and the blending ratio is 5%.The typicality of this wine is it is instantly ready for market, there is no need for aging process involved with this particular wine making. It has already gained a good status in the world wine market and it contains wine only 14% in it. The grape variety of Vermintino is a typical Mediterranean product and is available through out the Mediterranean coastline. Starting from Spain to Liguria, inclusive of the Sardinia island and Corsica -everywhere this variety of grape is being cultivated. The grape of Vermintino is a Spanish decendant and it is believed that around the decades of 1900 the first plantations of this variety of grapes were introduced here. Due to its exquisite quality and delicate taste it is a gem for the wine makers and because of its heavy demand it is now planted all over Sardinia to meet the growing demand.
